Jim has nearly 30 years of multifaceted, entrepreneurial, leadership experience envisioning and executing complicated market driven projects and companies from start up to profitability. Jim is most at home in the role of pioneer and market leader, and has worked with multiple product and software companies as an executive advisor. He is an expert contract negotiator in the public, political, and private sectors. He earned his BA from University of California, Berkeley.
From renewable energy, environmental clean up products, consumer insurance, to 3D geospatial software, Jim focuses on growing companies with ground-breaking or disintermediation products. Using common sense problem solving, and his years of coaching professional athletes, Jim brings a unique skill set of perspective and goal setting strategies, along with his operational and marketing acumen.
As the co-founder and partner of Rhein Medall Communities in North Carolina, Jim’s reputation for well-executed projects and high margins was nationally recognized as he grew the company to $50 Million in sales annually. His communities have won many prestigious awards – including the National Association of Home Builders' Gold Award for Best New Community in the United States, along with numerous other national and regional marketing awards, including Best New Community in Charlotte for The Palisades.
In 2004, Medall was selected by The Charlotte Business Journal as one of the year’s “40 Under 40” most promising business leaders. In 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 Rhein Medall Communities was named Developer of the Year by the Charlotte Homebuilders' Association. In 2008, Medall was named Charlotte’s Green Land Developer of the Year by The Charlotte Business Journal. Jim developed 12 of the Top Ten Best Selling Communities in Charlotte from 1998 to 2009. As the founder of a influential college student art contest in the Carolinas, Jim was an invited speaker for the University of North Carolina Art Department graduation in 2005.
